Pointedleaf, a young shape-changer, is forced to leave her tribe for the kingdom of Lyssia, a land that has been under a cruel dictatorship for two hundred years. Along the way, she joins a group of travellers headed by a young woman named Tasha, who has a grudge against the government that betrayed her. Pointedleaf quickly finds out that everyone within the group is more than they seem, but there is more than one secret hidden within the group, and the reason Pointedleaf left the forest threatens to end everything the group has worked for.
