Born into poverty and a society that emerged from war, a student named Arabella Sade will do anything to care for herself and her older brother; even if it means getting involved in illegal activity. Going by the name Ara to hide her identity, she has made a name for herself on the streets of Azmar. After taking the National Exam, Arabella shocks everyone by receiving a perfect score which has never been done before. She continues her activity on the streets until she is intercepted by a group of Officials one day who offer her the choice to stay in Azmar and remain a criminal or change her fate by attending the Academy. Her brother convinces her to leave, seeing this as an opportunity to escape their gruesome past. While at the Academy, Arabella discovers secrets of her past as well as what is expected of her in the future. She doesn't question the motives of the Academy until she meets Roman Black with whom she shares many ideologies with. They have their fair share of secrets but things take a turn when Arabella discovers his biggest secret.
