A state can "die" but they are reborn as long as their state lives. The parents they are born from have to die shortly after their birth.
They grow up not knowing that they are states. They think they're normal at first.
The only way they can "grow up" is to relearn their state's history and mature while "reliving" those events. Every emotion, pain, sorrow, and joy of the past.
This involves Rosemaria [New Mexico], "dying" and having to live through everything again with the help of Donovan [Colorado], and the rest of the states, (but mostly Donovan.)

Storyline: this au is about the afterlife and what's going on there. There's also some scenes of the living world but they get connected to the afterlife through flashbacks now their finding out what's going on while in the afterlife they will try and figure out why other dead Personifications like them are missing and about a drug called Insanity drug. A blank doll with acting and action running in her veins, Freia woke up in a hospital with no memory of what brought her there. Sure, the doctors said a car crash delivered her there, but it didn't feel like it. They said her family's dead but how come Freia didn't feel like that was true? Her very first visitors were her adoptive parents, Fabio and Darlene Hunter. She had four friends that stuck with her ever since she could remember, literally. That is until one who was dear to her was killed, in front of her. Of course, she was devastated. Why would that be a question? One day, Fabio decided to put her into his school filled with students that he specifically chose to be in. When she was finally forced to be in it, she found out things she thought that only existed in books. Powers unknown to the modern world, sheltered children who only knows the world through TV and non-interactive computers. All of the information comes in that school, but never comes out. I gotta say, why would you believe something that was written and altered by humans from outside? Would you even put your trust on the person who doesn't let you out unless he wants you to?
