From Alexander Lightwood's point of view, His parents adopted a boy named Jonathan Christopher Wayland. 6 years later, Jonathan, whose name is shortened to Jace, is Valentine's son. Then, weeks later, it's concluded Jace is Stephen Herondale's son.
