"Hey Kat! Can we play hide and seek?" Katlynn stopped in his tracks, laughing at his best friend who was trying to give her best friend the puppy dog eyes, her green eyes tearing up a bit. "Kris you and I are eighteen, doesn't that seem a bit childish to you?" He asked, shaking his head a bit. She began to pout. Oh boy. "Please Kat!!" She all but begged. He then sighed, rubbing his eyes in annoyance "Fine." She jumped in victory, "I'll count right here." She announced turning away from the boy with her hands pressed against her face to make sure she wasn't peeking. When she began to count aloud, Katlynn casually walked away, in no rush. He could hear her counting start to fade away as he began to look for a good tree to climb. Finding the perfect one with low enough branches, he climbed the tree, sitting on a random branch, swinging his legs. Suddenly he heard leaves shuffle from underneath him. "What the hell?!" He thought as he looked down below at the ground, seeing nothing but a few leaves fluttering in Kris's direction. And then he heard it. He heard a scream. But not just anyones scream... It was Kris. "Kat!" Filled with nothing but adrenaline, he didn't think. Didn't hesitate, He immediately hopped from the edge of the branch, toward the soil below, landing on his feet. Katlynn ran as fast as he could, hearing another scream. "Help me!" This scream was different, loud and chaotic. Full of fear. Heart beating ferociously against his chest, Katlynn ran even faster. He looked up, his sole purpose was to locate his best friend, until his eyes landed on a him. A man that the teen immediately recognized. The man that haunted his nightmares since he was a little kid. But this time, his hair was a dark brown. Eyes were red. He looked the same, as if he didn't age at all. "But how!?" Katlynn eyes grew wide as he saw who was wrapped in his arms with a knife to her throat, struggling in his grip with tears running down her face. Kris.

Carlisia ran as fast as her sore legs would let her. Her top was ripped and her knees scabbed from all the time she had tripped on the rough patchy ground. She tripped again, blood dripped from the corner of her mouth as a stone bust her lip. She quickly got up, and continued to run. She could feel his presence. Not chasing her, no. Observing her. He was amused how she thought she could run away. Carlisia's knees buckled underneath her again, she was so tired and in so much pain. A sob escaped her lips, she couldn't take it anymore. Sniffling, she took deep breaths, trying to get up but her legs wouldn't let her. They were just too bruised. She sighed, this was it perhaps. She rolled onto her back and pushed herself up against a tree, just as a figure emerged in front of her. "Tired I see?" The dark voice said after a moment of silence. "P-please just let me go." Carlisia whispered. Her throat was dry from all the screaming earlier. "Where would you go Carlisia? Hmm? There is no where to run to." He mused as he casually strolled in front of her. Clearly amused by the situation. "Well, there are places." He said sarcastically, swatting his hand in the air for emphasis. "Just not ones where you can hide." He tusked finally looking at her straight in the eyes. "There isn't a place in this world, no nook, no cranny, where I can not get you from. I need you to understand that love." He said as he crouched in front of her and tenderly brought a strand of her loose locks to his nose and took a deep breath, momentarily closing his eyes. "I will find you from any depth of this universe." he breathed out. Tears fell from Carlisia's eyes as she looked at the side, trying to push her face away from him, breathing as if a deer caught in headlights. "Well, not that I will let you leave in the first place." He chuckled, tugging at the strand as he finally opened his eyes. They were once again golden. Copyright 2021 ©
