Everett VonDyke was only a normal eighteen year old boy, with ambitions and high hopes of making something in this world. Unfortunately, his life would soon change one sunny, summer afternoon in June of 1943. He learns that he has been drafted into the U.S Army and must go fight in Japan. During one of his missions, his entire team is killed, in result, he is the only one remaining. He is then taken prisoner of war in a cold dark cell. As he survives the first night. He suffers a severe head injury the following morning, causing him to begin to lose his grip with reality. In order to keep himself sane, he lifts a notebook off of a dead prisoner and begins to write his life story over again so he can remember the young ambitious boy he once was.Complete

Into The Trenches: A World War I Journal [2019]
It is 1914, and Henry Anderson is watching the world descend into war. Like many young men at the time, he is fascinated by the idea of warfare and glory. Henry enlists in the military against his parents' wishes and throws himself into the life of a British soldier in Flanders. But it is far from what he expects: Henry's fantasies of righteous battle fade into the grim reality of gruesome death and shell-shock. He and his fellow soldier Jacob must help each other survive the cruel trenches, but it is no longer certain that either of them will return to England alive. Told in journal entries and letters from Henry's sister Elizabeth, this reveals the realities and horrors of World War I, on the battlefield and in the homefront. I wrote this for a history project while studying WWI and got way too involved in it, so here you are. WARNINGS: gun/bomb/gas-related violence, war descriptions, graphic death, suicide attempt. I will mark specific chapters with warnings and give summaries of those chapters on the following one. Post-Traumatic
A Vietnam veteran finds that 43 years after the war, it's getting harder and harder to control his thoughts, his actions. His memory scarred by the horrible events that occurred in that jungle, what seemed like a century ago. His brain puts his conscience on autopilot, and carries him off to his own personal hell. The stress is getting to him more and more in his older state, like he's dying more and more every time he flashes back to that dense forest, and is feeding the memory that kills him with his decaying state. He's afraid to sleep, afraid of being alone, for fear that it will consume him completely. It sometimes feels that all the possible happiness has left him, that he can no longer create good memories, only amplify the terrifying ones.Complete
