Our school works differently to others, because we're a grammar school, and we have different rules. We were all smart, the top percent of the country. But we're not all short ginger nerds in glasses with braces. Oh no. Friendships didn't change much. Most of the time, your group was fixed. And your group had its fixed place. Firstly, there's the popular ones. Not popular in our school, but the ones who would fit in in normal schools. The ones who wear makeup and tiny little skirts, shorts and strappy tops. Then there's the cool geeks. The ones who are probably best where they are, but have social media and interact with boys on a regular basis. Right at the bottom, you have the unpopulars. The ones who really are disliked by everyone, have more fictional friends than real. And in between, you have us. What are we? Well, we're us. We're not popular, but not unpopular. We're mostly unnoticed as far as the hierachy goes. But something happened to us. And we're going to be noticed.

Little town, little events. Sage Marie Andrews has always been the dirty blonde, easy going tom boy of the small town Vernon Oaks that has everyone knowing everyone, gossip to beat the mailing system and a slightly stereotypical set of girls and guys to give anyone not used to it, a headache. Especially in the new level of parties and teenage nights Sage has recently taken habit in. At the young age of 15, she was friends with everyone, not super popular, but definitely in the spot light. She's the kind of girl who would volunteer to clean bed pans for old folks, and cringe at the idea of shopping unless it's for her collection of sport goods. Sure she made enemies, but she had allies too. One in particular. Chandler Riggs, a younger 12 year old who needed a friend, and she was there. After a brief but impressionable summer of growing close and being inseparable buddies, he moves away to Las Vegas for 3 years never contacting her again, just for her life of her first boyfriend, school studies, household drama and basically her attempt to change into a more feminine girl fall apart when she gets news her sweet kiddo pal is coming back, only to find, the city changes things, in more ways than one, and the kind, innocent, polite boy she once knew, is characteristically unrecognizable in the weirdest of ways. Drama, hate, triangles, mixed feelings, past secrets, present conflicts, these are all expected when the boy too wild for her small town changes her life at every turn; but what happens, when the most unexpected of feelings occur, prompting issues and shaky hope, when he seems incapable of truly loving anything? Or anyone. Not even himself, and she starts to wonder just what changed him in the 3 years he's been away to make him take on a whole new role in her life as well as challenge other aspects of it, along with her own troubling journey. Because for sure, they're not friends anymore. In fact, their far from it.
