Katara has been different since her mother's death. She buries herself in books and work, trying to distract from the pain. And Zuko's life is far from perfect. His mother is gone, his father is abusive, and his sister hates him. People seem to avoid him just because of the scar on his face. So when he gets dared to make Katara his girlfriend, saying if he did so he would get paid, he doesn't expect anything to come out of it. Then he begins to spend time with her and realizes maybe he wants something to come out of it. Now he needs to keep the dare a secret. She moved from home at 14 years old to live at the Southern Temple, and train the avatar himself. Life was great, she loved her student and enjoyed watching him grow. But after a certain threat, Aang ran away, and Nara followed him not knowing how history would play out for her and the young avatar. When she wakes up after 100 years, she's absolutely devastated by the loss of her family, and this new world of war to navigate. She meets two Water Tribe siblings, who join her and Aang's journey to master the elements and end whatever the Fire Nation started.
