"Just survive somehow. As the days go by and you spend every fucking second of the day living in fear. In this world humans have become more dangerous than the flesh-eating monsters. Day by day it's the same, SURVIVE. You get used to the sickening crunch every time you plunge a knife into one of those things rotting skulls, as time goes by you start to build up brick walls over everything you once were. You stop having the ability to feel remorse or trust. The brick wall makes you forget anything you were before. There are three simple rules in this world: Eat.Kill.Survive."

This New World We Live In (A Walking Dead fanfic)
I ran as fast as my feet would carry me. My lungs gasped for oxygen. I knew I had to stop, but he could still be following me. I pushed myself harder. I needed to get away, far away. From him. From this. I remember I just woke up one day, and went to work as usual. I drove my squad car around town on patrol, but I saw bodies. Bodies everywhere. They were dead bodies, but they weren't still on the ground. They were walking around. As if they had re-animated. I shook away the memories from the day it started all those weeks ago and focused on my running. It was almost sunrise and I figured I could stop soon. As soon as I knew I was safe. But I know now that I had fooled myself. In this new world, you can never be safe. I'm Katie Greene, and this is the apocalypse.Complete
