A novel. After mysteriously winning a mansion, Luigi must use his courage and his customized vacuum to fight ghosts and unlock the mansion's secrets in order to look for his brother who has gone missing.

"...And the grand prize is... a big, haunted mansion?"

Luigi isn't used to winning. So when he gets a mysterious letter claiming that he's won an enormous mansion, he naturally gets excited... but there's just one little catch. There's ghosts all over the place, and the house is haunted!

To make matters worse, Luigi's older brother, Mario, was last seen going into the mansion and never coming out. Luigi hates ghosts - he's deathly afraid of them, in fact - but he soon discovers it's more complicated than that. According to a kind old scientist living nearby, the mansion doesn't even exist at all!

It turns out that this inventor, Professor E. Gadd, has been studying the ghosts for some time - and passes on a useful weapon to help Luigi in his quest. The Poltergust 3000 is no ordinary vacuum: it's a wearable tool capable of capturing specters! 

Luigi isn't exactly known for his bravery, but he sets out into the dark house to discover the truth. Can he overcome his obstacles - including himself - and find Mario before it's too late?

But instead of trying to capture him, King Boo was willing to help Luigi. Luigi was confused, but they both felt something for each other... Now equipped with the newly-built Poltergust 5000, including other inventions, the Dark-Light Device and Strobulb. Luigi will have to gather up the courage to travel through 5 different haunted mansions this time around in search of the missing Dark Moon pieces, fighting swarms of Boos and ghosts and solving puzzles along his journey. But perhaps there are even darker secrets hiding within the shadows.

Upon arriving they are greeted by Stuffwell, Mario and Luigi's old Companion. They Meet with Egadd who is confused as why they all came so suddenly. Starlow explains how urgent sounding the letter was, but the professor shook it off and explained why he gathered them there. He begins to explain he's possibly created something that could bring about the Future of all the Kingdom's in the region, but there were some Bugs, Glitches, Etc and needed the Mario Brothers Help to tend to them. When Mario and Luigi insisted they didn't know how to work with Technology, Egadd introduced Mario and Reintroduced Luigi to 'The Pixelater' (Introduced in Luigi's Mansion Dark Moon). A device that would allow Mario and Luigi to enter the Digital world and take the Bugs out at their sources. But of course, they couldn't do it alone...
