Some advice, from me to my eldest son. He's still too young to get most of what is written here but even under ten I have taught him the language of our people...sarcasm in the dialect of cynicism. I thought I'd share these gems with someone, or you, until he's old enough.

The Rules.
Life doesn't have a rule book. But it has unsaid rules, some even tips. In no particular order, here are the rules that I feel have deep meanings (sometimes...) behind them. Especially for me. FULL DISCLOSURE: It is now 2021 and I'm 21 years old. I wrote this at 14 with no real perspective on life. Read at your own risk. It's bad. Insufficient
I am insufficient. Well, that's not my name obviously, but that's what my family has decided I am. I'm Julie. I'm 14, about to be 15 years old. I have a twin sister, Jamie. Jamie is an angel. Perfect at everything, and can do no wrong. At least in my family's eyes. And I? I am not perfect. I am a disappointment. Though they've never said that to me outright, I know that's what they truly think. The apparent "last straw" was when Jamie fucked up and I took the fall for it. Now, I'm on my way to live with some of my more distant relatives back in Italy. They're supposed to "put me back in my place." So now I get to go live with 3 Italian Capo's. Sounds like fun right? ------ What happens when Julie gets sent away? And what happens when her relatives receives a girl they had been brought to believe was a troublesome, borderline delinquent teenager, but is actually just a confused, dissociative little girl with a messed up idea of what family really means. Finding Balance!
I am the best and i have countless awards to show for it. My restaurants are known all over the world. I can stand with giants and they will notice me because am the best there is and i earned it at the age of 26. Not many Chefs can stand and make the same claim as i. My restaurant is everything to me and i will not allow anything to distract my focus. All i have ever done is give. Even when my father told me to be cautious i ignored him and decided to trust a man that i barely knew and it cost my family everything. I have watched my father suffer for my mistakes but am going to make it right, for my sake and my family's.
