Jerkbait: The Original Short Story (Bonus Content)

This was the original short story that gave me the idea for JERKBAIT. I wrote it years before I came up with the idea for a creative writing class. I remember the discussion and how students hedged around the word "gay," like it wasn't safe to say even though we were in Montclair and the town was as liberal as one could get.

As you can see, there are a LOT of changes although the lack of communication between Robbie and Tristan always remained the same. But if there was one thing that I really wanted to keep (besides my theme of lack of communication), it would be that my inspiration came from the song "Ný batterí" by Sigur Rós. You should definitely Google it. Or look at Books and Ladders' blog as it has the playlist for the novel.

For any writers, I guess this is a way I can show you how much a story can change--from a homework assignment years and years ago to eventually my first novel.
