Suite à la catastrophe survenue dans le film 2012, un groupe de survivants s'est réfugié sur trois arches. Cependant, au contraire de la version cinématographique, seules deux arches atteignent l'Afrique après trois mois de dérive. L'arche européenne, cinq ans plus tard, vogue toujours, une pièce défaillante l'empêchant de naviguer jusqu'au continent.
C'est dans cette Arche Perdue que débute notre histoire, au milieu des combats de gang d'enfants.
En parallèle à cette petite guerre, sur terre, les arches ont construit leur propre société en dehors de l'Afrique du Sud où ils avaient accosté mais dont ils ont été rejetés. Les relations sont tendues entre les deux pays.
Dans une région un peu plus au nord, deux journalistes américains se sont retrouvés loin de tout ce qu'ils connaissaient et après cinq ans, leur opinions divergent de plus en plus. Les disputes sont régulières, les deux frères de sang sont sur le point de se séparer.
