Humanity has an inherent tendency toward self-destruction. Drowning in hate and hedonism, the worlds of humanity have not seen a true peace since the end of the Hydrian War. It has been decades since humanity saw any true technological advancement. Ruled by a decaying republic, for most of humanity, absolute loyalty and real morality no longer exist. This is the declining state of the Ariean Solar Year 4249. Sickened by the state of the worlds, Charleston Reeter knows he and the rest of humanity were meant for something better. With the aid of a powerful AI harboring her own intentions, Reeter's New Era Movement will accept only perfection. People believe he will lead them to a future that is nothing less than heaven. Admiral Gives has seen hell. To him, it's any day he's forced to work with reporters or politicians. There is nothing worse for one of the most hated members of the human race. It is not his business if the worlds of humanity want to tear themselves apart, provided they leave his ship alone. But humanity came to hate him for a reason: given the chance to save the worlds, Admiral Gives refused. The rest of the human race never forgave him for it. It rendered him and his haunted battleship the embodiment of every evil Reeter has set out to exterminate. Welcome to the dark side of human nature. Welcome aboard the Battleship Singularity. ...... Guts, gore and cursing galore, Blood Impulse explores a galaxy where morality has disappeared. Inspired by Battlestar, Firefly and Star Trek, if you miss the glory days of TV space opera, this all-original work is for you. Step aboard if you dare, and don't forget to leave a vote! "Any thought you ever had; memories, desires, your fears and your dreams, are all recorded and stored safely in the Quantum Cloud for your eventual revival. Death is now merely a transitional period to the next stage of your existence. As a QUBIT (quantum processing biosynthetic), you will experience a life free of disease and suffering. Time is no longer your enemy. Regret is a thing of the past. Each new day brings the promise of endless possibilities, spent in the pursuit of your own happiness, guiltless with the knowledge that there are no longer earthly constraints to inhibit you. This is the life you have always wanted. Welcome to your new beginning..." Akropolis is a city at the end of times, a sanctuary where the brightest and best have been housed since the last Great War. A genome defect has afflicted the majority of the population and scientists are desperate to find a cure. In the meantime, man has found his own salvation in the form of the QUBIT (quantum processing bio-synthetic), an android that is capable of prolonging life almost indefinitely, and yet what makes them human in the first place has been lost in the transition. The ruling council believes that salvation is nigh, but whether that hope arrives in time is questionable. The city's future depends upon the actions of a few individuals, all of whom are struggling with their own mortality. Quentin is the boy who dreams of death. Mia is the tortured soul. Trey is the soldier that defines duty. Misao is the future of the ruling council. Claire is the girl with a secret that will rock the foundations of their entire civilization. Unbeknownst to them, the entire fate of Akropolis lies in their hands. Either humanity will find a way to survive or it will sink slowly into the sea of extinction.

"Your smiling, Emerson. But I can see right through it, your teethy facade. Your not really happy, that smile doesn't prove anything, you don't persuade me. Its just a movement of flesh, a manipulation, a rejection with no words, why do you wish to push me away? Push us away? Why are you so comfortable with your misery?" My smile fades, that sinking feeling sets in my stomach and I glare up at him. "What do you want from me finn? I don't understand your intentions. I don't understand what you think you'll gain from me? You don't understand. By any means, and i don't want you to understand. I don't." The intensity in his eyes almost make me flinch, his black hole pupils scan me, they consume the green of his eye. "I want to find you Emerson. That smile, that livleyness, the purity and will within you. Its who you are. When I catch it in glimpses, it wraps around you like a milky veil. It feels like eternity, like your some sort of heaven on earth. So fragile, gentle. Yet raw, real. The cruelty didn't make you cruel, it made you beautiful. So much humility, so much understanding of the Ying yang. The balance of the world. It's like your not from here. Your so infinite. When I see you Emerson, i wanna reach within you and catch it. You begin to flicker, and then your hiding again. You retract it all, and It makes me question if infinity is really infinite. I want you to shine Emerson. I want you to not fear, not feel shame. I want you to glow unapologetically, I want you to live as yourself, in yourself. I want to bask in that. I want to feed you. Can't you see? I love you. I want to love you. I want you to be happy Emerson. And I know somewhere in there you love me, you love me and make me doubt anything I've ever known about love. You make what I thought was love seem foolish. You defy every possibility, you defy my beliefs, you defy all of it. You shattered the ground beneath me, just look at me, Emerson. I'm not scared. I'm enamored, I love you.

After major coastal cities sink to the bottom of the ocean at the end of the twenty-first century, the richest inhabitants of Earth escape the planet to build new colonies in a distant solar system. Thirty six light years away from the Milky Way galaxy, centuries have passed and humanity is well established. Among the most notable establishments is a prestigious university for the study of alien biology. Moira, a girl with a pervasive developmental disorder, but a talented student nonetheless, navigates the challenge of interplanetary university life as she researches a rare and endangered species. When a deeper threat emerges that challenges the existence of these creatures, she must team up with her classmates and find a solution to a problem much bigger than they could ever hope to be. ***** Credits: The cover is courtesy of the brilliant @vertigo_moon from The Vertigo Graphics while the line editing/proofreading/grammar check was done with a lot of input from Halyn Bleiz a.k.a vin_elend from the Floret community and Katie Marie from the Coven of Bookworms community.
