There was a time when I used to live in a cage. There was a time when my wings were tied. I used to see the world with frightened eyes. The door was wide open, but I couldn't see a way out. I was the one who closed the chains. Until I said no more. Until I stopped myself. The alley had a lantern at the edge and was the only thing that stopped the darkness from consuming everything there was. My mother used to tell me to never walk in an alley during night, to never walk alone in the streets, but I used to hate the thought of a girl been disabled to walk alone because of the fact that she was, indeed, a girl. And I still do, hate that, but now I know, that I should have listened
