Cress Jordan, fraternal twin of Jasper Jordan. Her mother didn't want to but in order to live she had to give Cress a new home. But Cress and Jasper knew they were twins. Their mother had told them at a young age and they promised to keep it a secret. That was until Cress' adoptive mother accidentally let the inevitable truth slip. Cress' father volunteered to get floated instead of his daughter going to prison at the age of nine. Feeling guilty, Cress became isolated. She refused to talk to even her brother. Their mother began to drink and soon found a new husband. Unlike her father, this man was a cruel heartless man who would beat Cress and Jasper but Cress suffered worse. Until she snapped. She was sent to prison for murder and illegal birth at the age of 12. The last person she expected to see was Jasper on the drop ship to Earth. And the last person she expected to grow attached to was John Murphy.
