The Rinnah peoples have been fighting the Achvah hordes for hundreds of years, though none now remember the true cause of the conflict. The Achvah and Nostra hordes prey upon Human life, and the Rinnah must defend them, along with rare, special Human counterparts called Magi. Magi can interact with Gehenna, the World of Worlds, of which Earth is nestled within. Julian Mayflower, a violinist in the Philharmonic, is caught up in it all when a Rinnian soldier he meets in an Achvah attack brings him to Rinnah, the homeworld of the Rinnian people, to defeat the menace of the Achvah and the mysterious forces surrounding them, and to learn what he was really put on this planet for.

The Way It Is
I am not from this planet. Hell, I am technically not from this galaxy. However, that doesn't change the fact I am here now, and my job is to save what I can on this forsaken planet and what's left of its inhabitants. The problem is that not everyone wants to be saved. I know what you're thinking. You can't save those who don't want to be saved. I bloody well agree. The ones who sent me don't care what you or I think, though. All they care about is numbers. They need a certain success rate to continue to get funding for their "expeditions" and "peacekeeping" efforts. I use both terms loosely here. Zero Sum
Humanity is not alone in the universe. More specifically Earth is not alone. It is an age of wonder for humanity. For all but a few. Our history has been altered, according to one who has visions of the fractured world that could have been but never was. The way history would have played out without an intergalactic coalition of humans visiting Earth. And he cannot decide whether the advanced human's arrival is really all that it seems. Whether we would have been better off as things are now, or with how his visions tell him things ought to have been. There are multiple worlds colonized by a vast space faring technologically and biologically enhanced human race all across the galaxy. Earth is just one of many of such colonies. At some point in our forgotten past Earth was cut off from our intergalactic neighbors and decides to fend for herself. Later we lose ourselves to infighting and nationalism instead of being true to our nature of being a space dwelling, intergalactic human cooperative. Now our space cousins are reestablishing contact with Earth. Bringing their superpower enabled, technological mastery of science so advanced as to seem supernatural. Eliminating slavery, wars, crime, diseases, climate shifts, and currency, with their arrival. Offering the promise of entry into a thriving united galactic empire. (I am dropping in from time to time updating the story with fresh ideas as they pop into my head this is so very much a first draft I have not even decided on names for some of the characters or different factions of humans that are to be encountered from beyond our solar system)
The Portal of Anaya - Book 1 - The Origin
The only way for an energy detached from the Original Source to return to it is by experiencing the experience of matter. Beings were categorized into five levels of knowledge. Earth is on level 2. Many advancements have been made, though many are irrelevant to the billions - or perhaps more - of souls scattered across space. Everything operates under the silent, vague, but present scrutiny of the gods, with thaumaturgic talents dominating many human cultures in some capacity. Churches reign over the post-Altarum territories a century after the Silence. The World, at least as far as many within the Habitable Zone are concerned, is a cold, thoughtless plane of existence. It is within a single vessel, known as the CSS Groundskeeper, do things begin to influence the "Things To Be," as labeled by followers of the pantheon. Within this ship, two individuals will face the beginning of what is to be unimaginable horrors within an unforgiving universe, both with the same goal: do not succumb to the darkness.
