Max Shaw is a 9 year old boy stuck inside an abusive orphanage, however one day luck turns in his favour as the orphanage is the victim of a gang attack, a gang attack that is being over looked by the police. A gun fight breaks into his room and he gets shot by one of the staff, he gets saved by one member of the gang called "the border gang". Not only was he shot but the police says that the gang members have to look after max. Over time max sees the gang as the family he never had.
