The story of two very different people whose destinies intertwine, as told by Marjorie Thompson, an elderly slave woman of the Moore Plantation. The story begins in 1845 when two children, Elizabeth "Beth" Moore and Johnathan "Nathan" Dickens, are born on the same day. One comes from a rich, plantation-owning family, while the other is born into a life of servitude. What will happen when the prejudice of the old southern ways is overlooked?

Luna Stone had the relationship of her dreams as a teenager, but the book takes off six months into her marriage where things go a little wrong, leaving her with depression, among other things, and when her life is dark and miserable, she finds that maybe, just maybe, there is a light at the end of the tunnel. Lieutenant Chase Colton had a rough life as a teenager/young adult after a very defining moment in his life, which led to him seeing life from a different perspective after months of therapy and struggling through PTSD, but it made him the police officer he is. A man who trains police dogs who helps with normal K9 work but also PTSD sufferers, when he has the chance. (This is more of a 'life after marriage' type of book, and not a teenage romance, so if you have been wondering what happens, after the high-school/college drama and 'they got engaged, got married and lived happy ever after' this is the type of book you would be interested in)
