As an aspiring writer, it's difficult not to look at stories you love and wonder 'What if?' I have notice how the Joker's origin in The Killing Joke and the Joker movie (2019) both stories take place during the 1980s. But what if it took place today? That's what I try to answer! In this original work I explore how a complex character like the Joker could emerge and be influence by current social problems. It's a romantic, and specially mysterious short story that I wish one day could help me make it to DC as a comic book writer, and if I don't, at least I enjoyed writing it, and I hope you enjoy reading it! Disclaimer: This story is an original idea, of course I reference moments from DC comics and I borrow their characters to tell the story (After all, It's a fan fiction), but each character belongs to the respective owners.

"We are all in the gutter, but some of us are looking at the stars." Hearing Imelda speaking, Arthur blinked and looked down at her. She smiled and nodded at him, "What is it you're looking up at, Arthur? What's your stars, as per se?" She leaned casually against the wall; arms crossed regardless of the rustle of the plastic bag as she crossed one ankle over the over. He became a little nervous, admittedly. Imelda just looked at him patiently, smiling kindly all the while. She didn't mind him taking time to answer. "I want to go into comedy." Arthur said, watching her smile widen, she looked interestedly at him. "Standup, mainly." Arthur never thought in a million years that he would cross paths with someone who genuinely seemed to care and want to know what he would say; likewise with how he felt. Imelda Henderson was a little ray of sunshine in an otherwise bleak and dismal life, one which Arthur was more than glad came into his life. However, he was soon going to set into motion events that even he could not foresee or wholly control, but what's the point of controlling that which needs to be freed and let loose on the world? But then likewise, who says that needing to slowly let go and transform needs to be done alone? Everybody needs a somebody in their corner, and plus; misery loves company.

This is my own personal version of how our lovable Dr. Harleen Quinzel fell in love with the psychopathic clown known as The Joker. This will be a dark story. I mean, it is about Joker and his story isn't a pretty one. There will be dark, mature themes in this book. It is not for the faint of heart. That being said, if you are not comfortable with this, then skip those parts. I will have them marked, and I will leave subtle hint, so you get the basic gist of what happened. I do not own any of these characters or the various original stories!! I just made my own remake of it. All rights go to the DC Universe and the creators of these awesome people. Thank you for trying out this story. I'm sorry if the parts that are from Joker's POV are terrible, but I tried to get as close to his twisted personality as possible. It isn't exactly easy to predict what the most unpredictable character ever made would say and do. I mostly went off of the movie scenes for his character. Please be nice to each other, and no rude comments. I may have a few spelling errors, so if you let me know, I will try to get to them. So, she enlisted the help of Gotham's most notorious criminal of all: the Joker. All she asked was that she help him with his missions so she would be associated with a bigger name. To her wonder, he accepted this proposal, and their deal was made. But, when one mission didn't go as planned, Joker almost entirely blamed (Y/N). He saw her as a liability now, not an aid. But, something prevented him from immediately punishing her with a shot between the eyes. Instead, he decided to play a little game with her and make a deal of his own: She'd show him that she could be useful, or she died. But, when a psycho starts to develop feelings, and when tensions build with the notorious Two-Face, that type of deal isn't as simple as it sounds.

While Y/n's father was getting treated in the hospital, Y/n went on a job hunt. She was allowed to stay in the manor of course but Y/n decided it was best for her to get a small apartment, so she did. Y/n had soon turned nineteen, and she went into training to become a skilled detective for the GCPD. And she hasnt had Any contact with Bruce Wayne even since she arrived at gotham. The only one she talked to was alfred. Bruce of course didnt know that his parents friend had a child. But when he heard the knews. He was most definitely shocked. This girl was also older than him by 11 months. Basically a year. Soon.. the two meet under dire circumstances, her father is dying, and bruce has to help her adapt and overcome. Both of them training in the process under Ras Al' Ghul. Back to Gotham. As friends, maybe more. And she become the vigilante called The Viper --------------------------------------------------------------------- This story with contact mature themes such as violence. this story will also follow the events of The Dark Knight trilogy, but it will also merge into other storylines. so eventually Bruce and Y/n will adopt Dick Grayson, Jason Todd, Tim Drake and instead of Talia having Damian, Y/n has Damian instead
