After the remaining Gladers are transported into Paradise, they begin life anew. Gally tries to make amends by befriending Thomas and learning to be nice again. The others start to realize that Gally has changed, which prompts questions about his past and old self. Everyone wants to know why he was such a nuisance to people back in the Glade, and wether he remembers his life before that.
Gally refuses to answer any questions and instead, relies on Thomas to aid him in his journey to heal himself.
After a while of their friendship going on, Thomas starts to wonder about Gally's past too but never asks him anything. Well, not until he realizes he knows next to nothing about the former Keeper of the Builders. He is determined to find out the answer to the question that has been going through his mind for a long time.
