Carter Manson is the daughter of Kennie Manson, a British woman working as a French spy. When Case Eighteen comes out and Kennie isn't suited, Carter gets dragged into flying off to England in the search for a microchip which is suspected to be in the possession of One Direction, who are all members of an organisation in Britain named the Second.
"The case is simple,” her mum's boss had said. “Get to know them; find out if they have the chip; find it; bring it back to Paris. Besides, those boys aren't the smartest in the bunch.”
But it turns out One Direction aren't as dumb as Benson thinks, and they have a plan of their own. You can't really be in an illegal government and not have a plan, can you?
Soon enough, however, the tables turn and the truth is revealed. Whose side is Carter really supposed to be on?
