The first day of summer starts with a barbecue, and ends with the death of a twenty-two year old college student. Left behind is his two best friends, his girlfriend, his family - and a girl he never even talked to. 

Taylor Miller grew up right across from Caleb Plat, but other than neighborhood barbecues they were never in the same place for more than five seconds. When he left for college, she still had two years left in high school. Now, Caleb's' death has got everyone on edge, and things are about to get shaken up. 

The funeral turns out to be the day that changes it all, and within fourteen days - Taylor's life is changed forever by the two boys left behind with broken hearts.

Laying low in general was a good strategy. Across town, Ryan was prepping for his final year in high school. While he wasn't the stereotypical quarterback of the football team, he did fit into the popular crowd. His sports of choice included basketball and soccer, either of which might line him up for a scholarship next year. Ryan had a group of close friends and a lot of adoring acquaintances. It wasn't easy juggling his athletics and keeping the grades up, but he was just that good. The supporting parents didn't hurt either. It might be a cliché romance, but it will be fun to see what the year and beyond holds. ------------------------------------------ This is a story I wrote years ago, or at least partially wrote. Sure, he can go out and socialize with teenagers especially since they're ones from his school but he finds himself isolated from the group. The teens throw a big party at the house during the end of the trip. The small leads to a boring night at the end. The teens find themself playing little games to occupy time. "I dare you to kiss a guy you don't even know the name of," Isla was asked and soon she found herself kissing Julian. It shocks Julian to a pause, here he was sitting idly to a girl kissing him suddenly. Julian ponders on it, but then finds out that the kiss wasn't meant to be anything. But will the kiss turn out to be nothing if life throws the pair together on many counts? Or will two strangers keep it that way?
