I sang at the top of my voice as one direction 'live while we're young' played from the car radio. Carrie and I continued to scream out, very out of tune, along to the song and Carrie was too caught up singing to notice that she missed the turn to the beach.
"Carrie?" I yelled over the pounding music. She turned it down and looked at me expectantly.
"You've missed the turnoff." Her eyes widened and she loudly cursed. I rolled my eyes and laughed as she switched lanes and headed back to the beach. As we turned down the road toward the beach I started to notice the pale yellow sand along the side of the road. My inner child screamed out and I could feel butterflies building in my stomach.
