Music That Lingers

If my thoughts were music, my friends would be the melody, always the same, always there and impossible to get out of your head, no matter how hard you try. It's a little bit sad, a little bit sweet, like a violin solo, but it's the kind of music that you understand; it'll make you think of past journeys that you've tried to forget and how they seem like ponds compared to the oceans of feelings you feel now. It's a whirlwind of feelings sweeping themselves together in a few notes that always seem to be playing in the background of my mind. Sometimes it's impossibly annoying, always thinking about things, because I knew that friends are always thinking of someone else and have a different song stuck in they're head. But if I listen long enough and get lost in the notes, it's still the most beautiful sound I've ever heard.
