"I'm never going to make it out alive." I confess.

He looks at me with his sea green eyes, memorizing me with every blink.

"Trust me, there's no way I'm going to let that happen."

❝Who are you? Who 𝘢𝘮 I?❞ ✑✑✑✑ All tributes know when and how they get in the Arena. The Victor, however, never knows when or how they get out. Not until Claudius Templesmith announces their name and district to the entire nation. Once the tribute becomes a victor, they're taken out of the Arena. Only to eventually realise they never truly escaped. The nightmares, the cameras, the deals, nothing ever lets them forget. Their entire lives, they're reminded of what they did. The mask of luxury that covers their sleepless nights and destructive thoughts, is kept in place by the finest glue known to President Snow; a bit of hope mixed in the bowl of darkness and fear. There's but one problem with that mask. For it to work, the victor must have two essential things; haunting vivid memories and loved ones they would trade their lives to protect. One without the other is to no use. So when Olive Navin Cresta survives the 69th Hunger Games with no recollection of her time in the Arena, the mask gets destroyed before it's even placed. Please, don't forget, the odds are never in our favour. ✑✑✑✑✑✑✑✑✑ 𝕒𝕞𝕟𝕖𝕤𝕚𝕒𝕔 /𝕒𝕞ˈ𝕟𝕚ː𝕫ɪ𝕒𝕜/ 𝕟𝕠𝕦𝕟, '𝕒 𝕡𝕖𝕣𝕤𝕠𝕟 𝕖𝕩𝕡𝕖𝕣𝕚𝕖𝕟𝕔𝕚𝕟𝕘 𝕒 𝕡𝕒𝕣𝕥𝕚𝕒𝕝 𝕠𝕣 𝕥𝕠𝕥𝕒𝕝 𝕝𝕠𝕤𝕤 𝕠𝕗 𝕞𝕖𝕞𝕠𝕣𝕪.' ✑✑✑✑✑✑✑✑✑ I DO NOT OWN THE HUNGER GAMES I only own my OC and part of her family. My representation of the 69th Hunger Games, a few side characters that aren't mentioned in the book, and their backstory. The book is based off The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. PRE-HUNGERGAMES―POST-MOCKINGJAY DISCLAIMERS―Typical Hunger Games violence and death. Language.

"Do you remember what I said about you the day of the reaping?" Finnick nodded. "I genuinely believed every word-" "I know you did," He smiled thoughtfully, "I've never heard you say a single thing that felt scripted. You always just- say what you want to. What you're thinking I've always enjoyed that about you." "Except I don't Finnick," Kaianna scoffed, "not always anyway." "And not right now." He corrected. "Not right now," Kaianna agreed. Her green eyes shined with an emotion that Finnick recognized immediately, from feeling it himself. They understood what each other were feeling, and exactly what was being said without words. Which was good, considering neither of them had the guts to say it out loud, "probably not ever." "That's not true." He smiled knowingly. "The point is," Kaianna dodged his belief easily, "my view on you is starting to change. I've been able to see you from a different perspective, and I never would've let that happen on my own." "I believe that." He chuckled. "Don't take it personally," She shrugged. When she looked in his eyes, she knew he somehow didn't understand where she was coming from, "everyone I've ever loved, has been stolen from me. To get to know someone, is to let yourself care about them, and all that does, is put them in danger. In my experience at least."
