We all had heard the stories growing up about the man with the black umbrella. Mostly i figured it was a way to keep us from wandering into the black night. The legend goes on a cold Louisiana night the man with the black umbrella sold his soul to the devil to help his ailing daughter. Well we all know how tricky Satan can be. He told the man that his daughter shall live if he comes away with him. The man agreed and he never saw his family again. Most of the town who did not believe in him just looked at him as another father who walked out on his family. But such was not the case. His payment for helping his daughter is that every night the man turns into part demon, he himself still has full consciousness of what goes on. His clothes even become part of his demon persona at night. The best part of his ensemble is his black umbrella. For he could make it do anything he wanted sorta if it was a cane. The devil told him he had to collect souls for him each and every night while in demon form. He had glowing yellow redish eyes and sharp teeth to go with it, the sight would literally make you pee your pants. But back to the legend. He would go anywhere from hospitals to morgues collecting souls. You would always know he was coming when you heard an eerie creepy whistle while twirling his umbrella. How does he know which souls to get you wonder? The souls he collects are other people who did the same as him which was sold their soul for some profit or favor. They were allowed 10 years before he came to collect. He was even allowed one hell hound to help in the search. Some nights he would go by his house and see his wife and daughter through the window. He wishes he could go in and explain, but that was impossible. I myself have never seen him but then again I still have my soul. But you never know maybe one day I will need help too from the devil.
