It's been 27 days since the World's economy crashes. World leaders are now either dead or have gone into hiding in fear of dying leaving people to fend for themselves. No power, no adults, and little food and water this group of teenagers have to fend for themselves.
People don't know how the rest of the world is doing, but all they know is that they have to survive. Some took refuge in Toronto's path. All entrances and exits blocked with no way in or out. They thought that this was a good way to escape the virus attacking the world, but know they realize that they have to escape The Path and fast.

It didn't exactly make it easy to prevent getting infected. Things could have been worse, though, Megan thought. She could've been left all alone to ponder over her thoughts and fear over the future. It'll only be within the time spent with the new group will she find out that everything's not as happy and welcoming as it had seemed. These people had a few secrets of their own, including the real reason they took Megan in. The zombie apocalypse started in April. Hannah couldn't fathom how she was able to remember something so irrelevant, although when she has over a year of isolation from any other living human being it's startling as to how much detail and information one person can manage to reminisce. She was 15 years old when it began. Now, she was turning 17 and nothing had gotten better. If anything, everything had become harder.
