If one mate was to die, then the other would feel like they had lost half their soul, but gaining a mate unlocks a Drakonis' full potential so not choosing a mate is like a bird never learning to fly. Purposeless. With their people hunted and lands razed, the mighty Drakonis faded into legend and their truths became gossip and the gossip became bedtime stories for children who wonder about adventure and travel. But there was one who hid her true identity, one who played human but always remembered her pride and home from whence she came. She took it upon herself to rebuild an empire for her people; one where they would not be threatened with extinction and isolation. She was doing well while trying to figure out a way to heal herself from the traumas she had from her previous life. However, fate flipped her life, causing her to be confused over her real identity. She suddenly needed to bear a responsibility beyond her capability just to save the people she loved. Will she accept the challenge and fight an immortal enemy despite fighting with herself? Or will she choose to leave behind the people who became a part of her new life and let them fall into the chaos that is about to fall upon them?
