I don't really understand life. Nobody does, I guess. But, there's this strange thing that's always there in life, always nagging you. It's called being selfish. I don't think life is meant for you, and you only. It's meant for others. If you serve others, you're being kind. Isn't that what we all want to be? Kind wraps up with being respected. And that's a big thing in this parallel universe we call the circle of life. If you're not respected, are you really worth anything? Anya has just moved from Russia to live with her father in the US. Lately, she's been having these strange dreams, and clumsy accidents. At first, they seem just a little weird, but when a life-threatening situation comes up, Anya knows there must be something going on.

Lily, a five year old child loses her parents in a horrible accident. Afterwords she is forced to live with her Grandmother who works all the time and has no time for a child. Lily, not knowing what really happened to her parents, and not understanding at all, she decides to take things into her own hands. At first she killed animals because she thought her parents were lonely where ever they were. After trying to kill her own Grandmother she was sent to The House, an insane asylum for kids. There she met seven other kids with situations similar to her own. Will Lily get better and go live with her family again or will she remain in a sense of denial enough that her sanity is in jeopardy? This story is told from Lily's point of view but it actually told by another girl with her little comments every now and again.
