Kousei Arima was a kid who was forced to play the piano by his mother until she passed away before one of his big performances. The death of his mother haunts him and he made the decision to quit the piano for two years. Then, there was a violinist named Kaori Miyazono who started to give his life new color to it and Kousei realizes how much he has clung onto the piano, starting to play again.
