Sasuke pierced Naruto's right shoulder with his Chidori technique. My story deviates from the canon series because Naruto's wound was not immediately healed by the Nine-Tails. Also, Naruto didn't go into his initial junchūriki form, as he refused to use the Nine-Tails chakra. The story starts with Naruto recovering from that fight in the hospital. Afterward, he is sent on a 2-year mission with his sensei Kakashi Hatake. As they travel together, their bonds grow stronger until they eventually learn about each other's true feelings. (Yaoi and violence!) ! - I do not recommend reading this story if you are not familiar with the series. ! - In this story, Naruto starts off as a 17-year-old, not 14 as in the series. !- The story continues until the canon's Pain episodes, so if you haven't seen that yet, there will be spoilers here. !- Yaoi lemon in later chapters. Naruto Uzumaki was gone. Sakura Haruno was alone, and Konahagure would never be the same. Tsunade was working nonstop as Hokage, and Kakashi was being sent out on one dangerous mission after another. Sakura was kept busy at the hospital, being the best medic- save her mentor and current Hokage- in the village. But at night, the loneliness crept in, and Sakura fell asleep staring at her team picture every night. One day, however, Orochimaru appears in the village for a strange request: he needs a medic. A good one. In fact, he needs the best one. He needs Sakura. Reluctantly, a deal is formed with Orochimaru's former teammate, Tsunade, to take Sakura Haruno away to his lair to help him heal his arms for the span of one year in exchange for a guarantee of her safety and the promise to help rid Konoha of the Akatsuki. Sakura readily agrees- if it means protecting her friend and her home, she would do anything. But when she comes face to face with her old teammate, who she never really stopped loving despite her efforts and denial, Sakura realizes that maybe home isn't a place, but whoever makes you feel loved most.
