Sixteen year old Iris lives in a futuristic Nova Scotia that has been destroyed and abandoned by all except for her small village. The village leaders have always had an odd ban on anything that reflects. Any who disobey this law will vanish during the night and are never seen again. In this village, Iris is an outsider, and the villagers make sure she doesn't forget it. Even the children avoid speaking to her. She looks different from everyone else, with curly, black hair and skin the colour of dark chocolate. The village head's wife has been trying to get rid of Iris for years and when Iris accidentally sees her reflexion all hell breaks lose. Nearly drowned in the well, she finds herself sucked into another world called "Paradise" with a solid population of seven. Upon her arrival though, the world begins to vanish. Can she find a way to stop its destruction? Or will she lose Paradise forever?
