There were superstitions told as bedtime stories. Myths in place of lessons. And secrets kept for safety. But no one ever warned Noah and Jonah about the truth. Noah is a Watcher, trained from ten years old to protect the living by keeping an eye on the dead. As an Amplifier, she is highly valuable but just as bored. Until that fateful Halloween that brings her face to face with brothers' Theo and Killian; one with a soul lighter than air and the other a soul darker than night. Jonah knows the brothers his sister has taken a liking to are not living. But to believe they are dead is also a lie. And to assume they aren't dangerous is stupid. Jonah is not stupid. And when strange occurrences plague the small town of Harlow Grove, he's determined to prove that quiet and brooding Theo and daring and manipulative Killian are behind it all.

Alone. Naked. Cold. Covered in blood that is just as likely to be mine as someone else's. I don't know who I am, where I am, or what I'm running from. All I get are flashes, snippets of dark shadows, sneering faces. Pain always follows these nightmares, these memories. I was found, taken in, but I have no way of knowing if I only escaped the frying pan just to jump into the fire. I don't understand these people, these wolves. They don't understand me, either. Our words mean nothing to each other, they're no more than sounds. We use gestures, facial expressions, body language like the beasts we seem to be. I can only pray these beasts are not the same ones I'm running from. -This story has depictions of violence, depression, panic attacks, gore.
