Emma Clarke's father has been gone for a month. She doesn't know anything about the whole affair, just two facts:

1. He left on a train.
2. Nobody seems to be doing anything to solve her mystery.

Every day at sunset, she waits at the station for the evening stop, and searches the crowd for her father, if he comes back at all.

But someone new to the town of Eldridge has arrived, and Emma learns that their ties go deeper than she'd ever have imagined...
