Everything in the Society returned back to normal, except for one thing; Iris finally expired.
Or so people thought after she died when the maze was blown up.

Colton had secretly saved her, because he thought at first he could use her against the Tresais and Preeminence, whom both loved her. Soon after though, he began to fall in love with the person he used to deeply despise for her Expiration Date, since his told him he would die at the age of thirty five, too young for the Society.

He decided to try to love Iris, hoping it would somehow save him from his upcoming Expiration Date.

They had married when he was thirty, with only five years left of his life.

He decided to enjoy every last bit of it.
