I give my heart and soul to the righteous and pray for the Father's mercy, for I shall show none." Sir Rolan Coytak, a paladin of the Holy Paladin Order of Farikesh, a seasoned and grizzled knight of twenty long years, is sent on a mission to the lands south of the Kingdom of Harliya, Amberfall, to investigate the rumours of blood magic. Travelling with his clumsy and naive squire, Rolan is greeted by many people, many with grace and dignity, others with suspicion. He is told by the Baron of these lands, the young Simon Greycrow, about bandits in ruins deep within the Redwoods of Amber that may hold what he seeks. But as Rolan travels these dark, beautiful, eerie forests, he learns that magic is not the only problem these lands have. Facing a great challenge as he uncovers the truth of the rumours, Rolan must make a decision that may haunt him for the rest of his life.
