Ramona is damaged, locked away in her own mind. Athena is cruel, set on being better than anyone and everyone. Her only competition is David Jacobs. Morgan is beautiful, a pretty face looking for someone who can see beyond that. The death of their parents changes everything. Ramona is accused of a murder she can't prove she didn't commit, only one boy truly believes her, a cute newsie with a crutch and a smile that somehow melts away the rest of the world. Athena is conflicted once David drops out of school, leaving her as the smartest student, but somehow, she can't enjoy it without him. Morgan faces a world of crime that her parents had exposed their family to, and she turns to the newspaper for help, hoping to clear their name.
