Abandon. That's how Katie felt when the Military sent not one parent, but both parents to partake in the war in Iraq. Her parents shipped her off to Florida to live with a family she hadn't visited since she was in diapers. Sure, the fact of living on a beach is like a ten month long vacation, but vacations aren't suppose to be extended. Living with eight other children, Katie is suppose to make herself at home while her parents fight the War on Terrorism. So what happens when her stay becomes longer than expected? Fights arise, drama ensues, boyfriends are dumped after stolen kisses, and a family is separated in more ways than one.
