Sophia and Nick had been best friends since the day they were born. They shared the same birthday. Swing set, sandbox, and tree house. Being neighbors and best friends since before they were born pretty much made them two peas in a pod. Sophia's life hadn't been the easiest being raised by just her father. Her mother had passed away a few hours after she was born due to complications during child birth. Sophia turned to Nick's mom for advice on anything she couldn't talk to her father about.
No matter how hard her life was knowing her mother died having her Sophia was always happy nothing seemed to upset her to the point Nick couldn't cheer her up. Not until one night when they were fourteen. They couldn't have imagined what would await them in the middle of the night. A severe storm that caused chaos and mishap leading to Sophia losing the only family she had ever known. Several years and numerous foster homes later she was placed into a group home where she met Maria, an angel in disguise.
Maria convinced Sophia to join the home's choir which was actually well known for all the awards they had won. She couldn't have predicted what would happen next. A nice gesture by Maria and the choir girls turns out to be more than Sophia could have ever hoped for. A chance meeting with The Backstreet Boys not only brings back all her memories of a better time but so much more. Can she emotionally take what is happening? Will she walk away from the contest heavy hearted or will she forget and forgive?

Over the years, she was also diagnosed with parasomnia, ADHD, paranoid personality disorder, and acute stress disorder. Needless to say she had more prescriptions than she chose to mention to anyone except for the people that already knew, and even then, she didn't talk about her mental illnesses, which her friends understood and complied with. After her mother left her, Katherine and George Walter took her in, having basically watched her grow up since Katherine and Lauren had known each other for as long as anyone remembered...until she up and left her only daughter behind that is.
