Freya O'Donnell started off in her small town called East end. But that's just where the story begins. She never wanted to leave the safety of the walls. She had to leave, she had to fine someone who would play nice with her own demons. But on this journey she would find people that would teach her things. Things that nobody else could have taught her. These people will soon become friends, but will they go on this adventure with her. Together they'll help each other find the ones that they truly desire. They're all connected by these necklaces that grow hotter as you reach love and colder where this is none. But this is a post apocalyptic world, you fight to survive.

Every detail, from the sound of footsteps on broken glass to the sight of a loved one's bloodied face, was vivid and meaningful, pulling the reader into the story. It's a sweet and deep romance about two characters negotiating their feelings for each other while life is doing everything to tear them apart. The characters have such mature conversations and, there's no reliance on the miscommunication trope at all. I'm *obsessed.* If you enjoy intriguing fantasy novels with deep and thoughtful themes, check out 'The Gifts of Mortality' by @eleanorkennedy14 . It explores the concept of mortality and how it gives life meaning through the eyes of both gods and humans. The story follows Samil, the god of the Festivals and the Arts, who is shocked by the apathy of his fellow gods when a human terrorist group gains control over the Goddess of Death. Despite finding no support among his kind, he's determined to help the humans, which sets him down an interesting course. There are lots of great twists in this novel, and I also loved seeing how queerness was worked in throughout both the immortal and mortal realms. The world has never been so dark. Ever since they came, they have rampaged the streets, taken so many lives and changed the course of the world. The world is in ruins, and only a handful survive. Seren is one of those handful of people remaining. How she adapts from an aloof and reclusive 16 year old, to constantly having to watch her back, as this world around her become more dark and in despair. Even in the light of the day.
