There is little left of humanity after the nuclear war happened back in 2055. But that was nearly a hundred and fifty years ago. Now, the world is recovering but things have... changed.  Not just things, but people too. Most were killed by the radiation, yes. But there were some who took in the energy as if their life depended on it. These people are what we now call, Evolved. They have developed gifts and abilities from the radiation. Not quite super powers, but still, pretty awesome. 
      Not just have the people gained new abilities, but the government is more strict about, well, everything. You can only marry within your number, treat people with a higher number than you with more respect, earn a living based off your number, blah bla blah bla blah. On and on and on. Your number is how Evolved you are. We all get one the moment we are born based on our chemical makeup. I just wish I knew what mine was...

Life on Earth probably began with complex, virus-like molecules that over billions of years evolved cells and the ability to split carbon dioxide and water (H2O). The poisonous waste product, oxygen, released into the atmosphere, probably caused the first mass extinctions on Earth. A cure can't be found and the virus is spreading like wildfire. People are still recuperating from the nuclear war and find that there is nothing they can do to stop the virus. I was diagnosed with having the virus on January 1, 2015. My birthday was on the first and so I had just turned eighteen. What a birthday present, getting such a deadly disease, or could it somehow turn into a good thing? One year to live. I had the virus.
