University of Florida student Kyle Bellini obtained his Bachelor's degree in Finance in May of 2016. Near the end of his finance coursework, Kyle Bellini chose to pursue a career in real estate directly following his graduation. As such, he began his education toward a Master's degree in Real Estate (MSRE), with which he will graduate in May of 2016. Deciding to switch from finance to a focus on commercial real estate is just one example of many career decisions that aspiring professionals are faced with. Often, it is not until you have received education in a field that you can know if it is right for you. Taking time to carefully consider career decisions can help you avoid mistakes and find the professional path that's right for you. Define the Decision - Take time to define your career decision, clarifying it on paper. If half of the solution is knowing the problem, then accurately defining what your decision is and what your professional choices are can be of great help in coming to a conclusion. Sometimes, a career choice that is complex in your mind is simplified when it hits paper. Define Your Purpose - A purpose statement will help you define why you are considering your career and what, exactly, you are trying to decide. For example, if you're considering a new career because you have to move, you might be able to find a way around it; if, on the other hand, you're considering the career because it is your passion, you probably don't want to find a way around it. Ask Questions About Your Purpose - Once you have defined your purpose, make a list of questions about it. With a lengthy list of questions in hand, eliminate repetitive ones and then answer the remaining inquiries for an in-depth look at the upcoming career decision.
