Anthony Bureheart is a indentured servant. Wishing to come to America, but not having the money to do so by himself, he works for a man named Billus Roscoow. After a few years of working in the fields, Anthony befriends one of the African-American slaves, Haky Wenliger. Haky is rebellious, full of strife, and she hates being a slave, seeing as how it took her from her family, which she believes to be dead. But when Anthony sneaks out and tells Haky what he finds, how will she react? What will Bilus do if he hears of it?

Born to a middle class family in New York City, Alice's life changes forever when she and her family are kidnapped and sold into slavery. She is torn away from everything she loves and only allowed to keep her name. She is forced to work long hours on a plantation with only the singing of the whip in the sky and the distant dream of a life she once had. That is, until opportunity arises, and she is given the chance to escape. Will she find freedom? Or will the chains drag her back to where she has been told she belongs?
