"You're not lying... right?" I asked, my voice barely a whisper. My heart pounded like a warning siren. This felt like a game. A trap. His expression didn't change- but something in his eyes shifted. Dark. Unreadable. Dangerous. Why now? Why me? Tears stung the corners of my eyes, and I hated that he saw them. Because the truth is- I don't know how to react to a man who once broke me... now telling me he loves me. Not when his love feels like poison- sweet on the surface, deadly underneath. And yet, a part of me wanted to believe him. Wanted to fall. Even if I knew I'd be falling onto broken glass. Because that's what his love is. Beautiful. Addictive. Painful. And now it's mine.
