Teddy Roosevelt hunting Dinosaurs in Yellowstone...What more could you ask for?

How about famed Paleontologist Edward Drinker Cope and his daughter Julia as a romantic Interest?

The original concept for this novel wasn't much to write home bout: A Professor Challenger type expedition into the Lost World of the Yellowstone.

But as I did my research, I found a surprising depth to the character of Young Teddy Roosevelt. This is a man who, at 24, turned his back on his meteoric life after suffering an unspeakable tragedy. In the real world, Teddy discovered a side of himself in the Badlands that reinvigorated him and allowed him to remake himself into the hero we know today. I wanted to capture that moment in an adventure novel, but couldn't find the hook.

It wasn't until I discovered that Teddy himself lamented the fact that he missed the great opening of the West and was unable to see the vast herds of bison that once roamed there that I had my hook... Yellowstone wouldn't be a mysterious valley of mist, but, as it was already in our world, a preserve and snapshot of a time that was rapidly passing with the westward migration of America.

Add in the Bone Wars Between Cope and Marsh, two colorful and bitter rivals who nearly drove each other to extinction, and I have my story.

I hope you follow me, and can't wait to earn your support.

(Editing incomplete) Jurassic Park went down in history as a disastrous failure, an idea with good intentions that went horribly awry. For Dr Alan Grant and Dr Ellie Sattler, the two were happy to return to a life strictly dealing with bones. Despite the terrible things they had come to witness, their love for the creatures that had once roamed the Earth had yet to dwindle and carried on into their legacy. Raised among two of the most world-renowned dinosaur experts, their daughter, Keira Grant is next in line to carry on the work of her parents. With a palaeontologist for a father and a paleobotanist as a mother, Keira's life is strictly dino-related from the time of her birth and it comes as no surprise when she decides to follow in the steps of her parents. However, Alan and Ellie never anticipated that their daughter would be roped into the same trap that they had fallen into all those years before. With the opening of Jurassic World theme park, Keira is lured to the appeal of working with the creatures she has learned so much about over the years, along with the promise from the park itself that things will be different this time around. With new safety precautions put into place, along with advanced technology, Jurassic World is deemed safe and the park is opened with Keira working among the herbivores on site. But things certainly begin to change when Keira meets up once more with ever-flirtatious and aloof, Owen Grady the Raptor Trainer as he steps into her territory. And unfortunately, the carnivores aren't far behind, especially one, in particular, that shows no mercy to anything with a pulse. Cover Credit: @tantarts

After he leaves, her mother takes her to the hospital to be examined to make sure she'll be all right. The family huddles together to decide what to do. Her mother Paola and brother Ramon can support her for a few months, but both are shocked when she announces she is going to look for her beloved Benito. His last known address was the Yellowstone so that is where she intends to start. She rides but not well enough to be a ranch hand. She can cook and muck stalls, that could -be enough to get her hired for something. She can't wait soon to leave Texas and finds herself driving her father's old truck and heading up north. She had to leave her beloved cat behind, but her sister insists on giving her a half-grown German shepherd puppy to keep her company. She gets to Montana and insinuates herself with the Duttons who offer a job mucking stalls. Soon, she hears about a mysterious place they call the "Train Station" and wonders if that is where her brother ended up. The Duttons seem to have accepted her, but she is cautious, using her fake names and telling no one who she really is. She has a phone she uses to call her family but keeps it hidden. Something is coming, she can feel it, and wonders if it has anything to do with the mysterious t Train Station. Maybe this is more of a "based on" story. And I originally wanted it to be a Ryan/OC story, but Travis made his presence known and took over.
