Clarity has disappeared and for some reason a rich benefactor has chosen to employ Hendrik to find her. Hendrik Johansson isn't a private eye but a specialist in old computer technology. Recently single again, he throws himself into the search for Clarity Vance, following a trail of breadcrumbs hidden in old computer code, a renaissance painting and a medieval text on a journey which takes him across the globe from rainy London via the hallowed halls of Harvard all the way to the Cloud Forest of Singapore where things finally start to become clearer.
