This is an account of some trips I took with my parents as a child. We covered almost all of the states east of the Mississippi River, and went mostly by car, sometimes by train or plane. We often took one trip at Christmas time, another in the summer.
My dad loved to visit Florida, but he worked in baseball and his boss would go to the Sunshine State for spring training, which meant he had to hold the fort back in Columbus. Therefore, we usually went to Florida right after Christmas for two or three weeks.
During the summer we visited other places--Chicago, where both my parents had family, or the historic sights in the Eastern States which my mother loved. Sometimes at Easter we would travel to Kentucky, driving through the mountains as the dogwood and redbud were starting to bloom.
