" You remind me of a line from a poem I once read. " I slowly get up and start to caress his face. " Oh really? Which poem?" he asks with a smirk on his handsome face, probably thinking that my answer will amuse him. "It's called "For woman who are difficult to love" from Warsan Shire"I hesitantly answers while I feel my cheeks getting hot and probably red, colour which only intensifies when he throws his head back and starts laughing. " So what should I understand from what you just said? That I am a difficult woman?" he asks with amusement. I roll my eyes and scowl at him but choose to continue with my explanation without minding his annoying humor. "No you fool. It was actually a quote that I always loved but never understood until I met you." "Then tell me." " You are terrifying and strange and beautiful. Something not everyone knows how to love." I tell him with a soft, almost shy voice, while looking in his deep green eyes, hoping he will maybe understand what I am actually trying to confess. Hoping that he will understand that I am that someone who knows.

COMPLETE Let me make this crystal clear, because you don't seem to understand," he said, his voice deceptively calm, but laced with venom. "I paid for you to be my wife. That means you do what I say. You're mine now." He flicked a check toward me, and it fluttered to the ground between us. I couldn't look away from him, though my chest tightened in panic. My hands shook as I fought back tears, refusing to let him see me break. But he wasn't finished. "What did you expect?" he scoffed, eyes narrowing. "This is what gold diggers like you get. Money has a price, and now you're paying yours. Enjoy it, wife." Without another word, he turned and walked away, leaving me standing in the massive, empty living room-speechless, breathless, and drowning in disbelief. I never expected this. © MaryRose 2018.
