Eva Enno is young girl with an old soul. She has had not the happiest of memories but has the drive to make her future one she deserves. Her brother disappeared when she was only 13 years old and just like that her decent enough childhood had vanished. Her mother became hateful and careless and when Eva turned 16, her mother packed up all of her things and flew to the other side of the country, leaving little Eva alone to fend for herself. She has now moved from New Mexico to Oregon to be closer to nature and go to college to become a Veterinarian. She lives alone with her pets and works all the time, keeping to herself knowing that all people ever do is leave her.

Max Wayman is the Alpha of the Wayward Night Pack, the strongest pack on the west coast. He is quiet and kind but doesn't like getting close to people because he is afraid they will find out his deep dark secrets. He became Alpha after his father died but no one knows that during his first shift, he was enraged by his unruly wolf and accidentally killed his father. He is a guilty man that is only close with five pack members, his cousin, Olivia, his Beta, Luke, his Delta, Joseph, and the Sentinel , Evan along with his made Beth. At 24, he is still unable to find his mate but it doesn't bother him. He would be afraid to hurt her during his rare angry outbreaks.

One afternoon, on her way home, Eva's car runs out of gas and she is left to wander into the woods towards a light she thought she saw, hoping it was a small gas station. When larger than life wolves then stalk around her, she is alone to fend for herself. Taken, Eva finds herself somewhere called a pack house while Max wonders what to do with this human that just so happened to be his mate. Will he tell this overwhelmed human that she is his soul mate or will he let her leave to go back to her life and him to never be afraid of harming her?
